Dear Readers,
New GMOs have proved to be a “thorny” issue for the Belgian Presidency, with the impasse continuing and still no common position found in the AGRIFISH Council. The Belgian Presidency has one more month to reach a ‘general approach’, then they will pass the file - and controversial topics like patents, traceability, labelling and coexistence - to Hungary.
There could not, therefore, be a better time to make sure that you are up to speed on the status of the EU negotiations and what a possible new regulation would mean for all operators across the Non-GMO value chain. If you would like a first-hand update on the legislation, if you’re interested in the latest strategies and technologies to exclude New GMOs from Non-GMO value chains, if you’d appreciate insights into Non-GMO market trends, forecasts, drivers and innovation – then the second International Non-GMO Summit (in Frankfurt/Main in Germany on the 7th and 8th of October 2024) is the place to be! Registration will be open from 3rd June and an early booking discount valid until 31st of July. You can find out more and read about last year’s Summit via the Summit website and, finally, follow the LinkedIn page for updates.
In our third Market Report on the major Non-GMO crops for the European market we provide all the latest news on the market, in particular on significant price rises for soy, maize and rapeseed in recent months, due to adverse weather conditions in major growing countries. The report also points to strong supply for the coming 2024/25 marketing season.
