Support the Right to Know Whether There Are New GMOs in Food

The German companies Alb-Gold, Alnatura, Andechser, dm and Frosta have launched an initiative to preserve labelling and freedom of choice for GM foods and they are calling on all companies from food production and trade in Europe to join them. You can do this easily on this page, preferably before an important vote on the topic in the European Parliament on 24 January 2024.

Support the initiative and sign the open letter

In a joint open letter, the German food companies appeal to Manfred Weber, the European People’s Party (EPP) Group Chairman in the European Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the German CSU, to support the preservation of labelling and freedom of choice for GM foods.
The reason for this is the forthcoming intensive negotiations and votes in the European Parliament on the question of whether food produced with New GMOs (made with new genomic techniques such as CRISPR/Cas) will remain recognizable in the EU in future. The members from the EPP group have a key role to play here. They form the largest parliamentary group in the European Parliament and they are pushing for a deregulation of New GMO products even more strongly than the EU Commission.

Sign the open letter to Manfred Weber
