ENGA Newsletter No. 10 : March 2023

Dear Readers,

The final agenda of the first ever Non-GMO Summit is now confirmed. And we are happy to welcome high-level speakers from across the whole food value chain and with representatives from both Brazil and Europe – and hopefully you! You are warmly invited to join us in Frankfurt, Germany, 9-10th May 2023. Please note, that the Summit is a physical event only, so please reserve your tickets for the Summit directly on the website: https://www.nongmosummit.com/register-now

Recent years have seen a marked shift in consumer buying patterns when it comes to meat and dairy products, partly as a response to the climate crisis and environmental concerns in general, partly due to health concerns. Why plant-based foods are an important market for Non-GMO food producers and why reliable sustainable labels are decisive for consumer trust, we explore in our article The rise of sustainable diets and demand for plant-based foods.

We also take the opportunity to introduce our member Impetus Bioscience, a laboratory based in Bremen, Germany, with more than 25 years of experience on detection of genetically modified plants, analysing the whole spectrum from raw materials to highly processed products.

Please support us by distributing this newsletter within your network. To regularly receive our newsletter, and get all the latest updates on Non-GMO in Europe, subscribe. Also keep in touch with ENGA by following us on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Please feel free to inform your partners and networks about the work and goals of ENGA, and to increase our strength on the European market and towards the European regulatory bodies by having as many business platforms and companies as possible join our cause Membership Benefits.

Kind regards,

Heike Moldenhauer

Secretary General

Speakers from the whole food value chain at Non-GMO Summit

With the final agenda now confirmed, the Non-GMO Summit will feature high-level speakers from across the food value chain and with representatives from both Brazil and Europe. We take a look at the line-up for the programme.

The rise of sustainable diets and demand for plant-based foods

The rise in plant-based foods is a relatively recent trend, which has seen a marked shift in consumers' buying patterns, partly driven as a response to the climate crisis and environmental concerns in general and also linked to healthy eating choices. We take a look at the market and the link with Non-GMO - with a recent survey showing that consumers buying such products place a big importance on them being Non-GMO, it’s clear that this is an important market for Non-GMO food producers.

Meet our member: Impetus Bioscience

In the latest in our series of "meet our member", we introduce: Impetus Bioscience.

Impetus Bioscience is an independent and neutral laboratory, located in Bremen, Germany. Find out more about them and what they do.
